5 E’s Program Information

SRTS programs examine conditions around schools and conduct projects and activities that improve safety and reduce traffic and air pollution in the vicinity of schools through a measured approach or the 5 E’s:

  • Education
  • Encouragement
  • Enforcement
  • Engineering
  • Evaluation

As a result, these programs help make bicycling and walking to school safer and more appealing transportation choices thus encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle from an early age.

If you would like Trails for Youth.Org to work with your school contact Megan at megan@tfkmetrodc.org.  We have several programs that we have fine tuned and coordinated that will help you start to make a difference at your school.

Our bicycle rodeos and skills classes are in demand!

As more kids take to the trails we feel it’s vital they know the laws and proper handling skills to safely navigate their routes.  We have taught thousands of local children about bike safety and provided hundreds of bicycle helmets to children who couldn’t afford them.

If you would like your school, church or other organization to host a bicycle rodeo, contact Megan at megan@tfkmetrodc.org to schedule your event.
